I recently got some alligator clip cables and just bridged the connection on the left side of the bonnet. That way the litter robot never thinks the bonnet is removed even if it is literally removed. Not a great solution but bypasses the garbage tabs they put on this thing.

Took 400 grit sandpaper and sanded the contacts (both sides, bonnet and base) clean.
