You can't have a blueprint weapon in your insured slot. It would be fun if the game rewarded xp for starting with knuckles. Then maybe it wouldn't feel so crumby when this happens. The bug has to do with bundle attachments as far as I can tell, and seems to also happen with non bugged guns when you have a backpack without a stow weapon slot.
