Even using a shield with a 2 hander is better than using a 2 hander by itself. With dual wielding, you get more runes, another weapon perk and more hits during a combo (depends on weapons being paired). You don't have to use the same type to use the best moveset for some weapons.I've not seen much around the best melee weapons or bows though. I would also recommend the Jormungandr armor. Currently, I'm using a couple pieces from that set combined with a couple from the Paladin set.
