Long answer: depends, some books are amazing as lore substitutes, other books are basically mandatory for understanding current plotlines while still being retconned by those same plotlines. I would recommend reading War of the Ancients Trilogy, the Arthas book, Stormrage, and the Illidan book. Sure, at the beginning WoD was pushing Grommash as the BBEG, and Gul'dan was more "in the shadow" for the first part of the expansion, but from the moment he defeated Grommash and took the Iron Horde, he surely had "main villain" vibes. I disagree on Sylvanas. She was the third Warbringer. She started the Fourth War.

In patch 10.1.5 there will be 9 more races that can become Warlocks in line with Blizz intent to make more race-class combos available. Rogues are weak only when they do not possess the element of surprise. Even if caught, they can still put up a decent fight against their opponent. Rogues in lore are very much like rogues in game, they require stealth to do the maximum amount of damage, if that makes sense.Tirion was powerful against creatures weak against the Light to put it simply.
