Maybe someone can help me figure out the issue with a 212 Predator engine that is on an old Manco 485-03 kart I recently picked up. Previous owner had removed the rod & springs from the governor arm to the carb and throttle lever and had a homemade throttle rod from the big throttle ... The governor setting can adjusted, but by changing the hole the spring is connected to. IMO, the two are completely different things. A governor works to limit RPMs. A throttle stop works to limit power. So if you back out the throttle stop and gain RPMs, it is because the engine is making more power and you are still under the governor setting.

You need to figure out where in the crank position the magnet is firing the coil. If it fires too soon, the engine kicks back. If you haven't touched the valves at all, and the only change is the flywheel and coil, then that's most likely the problem.
