My ears are at a 6g and seem to be naturally stretching themselves with glass plugs in, so it works fine at smaller sizes. Also glass plugs feel really nice in your ears too. I used tape to stretch up from an 8 through to 6 though and found it much easier to use than tapers ever were. No pain and my lobes weren't even a little sore. Good luck dude.

I couldn't do the stretch from 8g to 6g in one go. I fully stretched one ear and am currently stretching the other using a round taper (pretty sure there's another name for it, I google image searched "talon taper" and it's the 2nd or 3rd image, is almost a full circle not straight, and isn't a "pincher").

When you’re ready for your stretch make sure to clean and disinfect the area. Then, lubricate your freshly cleaned earlobe and the taper. Also id recommend going by millimeters, not by gauge size. 8 g to 6 g is the first full millimeter jump that you end up doing, which is why I suggest going in .5 mm increments. Its a smaller jump and therefore better for your ear in the long run.
