Assuming you are right handed hold the grip firmly with your right hand and take a firm overhand grip of your slide behind the extractor. Now PUSH the grip forward while holding the slide firmly. The slide gets about 1/2 way off then need a little push to release all the way. Reinstalling make sure the take down lever is pointing down. If it moved just lift the slide lock back up to rotate the take down lever back down.

I have a new p365 ( born on date of July 2021) and with the magazine out the slide release is very hard to operate with one thumb, but doable. However when a magazine is inserted (empty or loaded) the slide release is so hard to release that it takes both thumbs and a lot of force to get it to “release”! The mag is out and the slide is locked back but the damn takedown lever will not go to 6 o'clock position no matter how hard I force it. My thumb is bleeding at this point lol. Might not be the same, but for a while the 320s needed to push the barrel down or back slightly to allow the lever to drop. This fixed it.
